Treatment & Conditions
Can physical therapy treat migraines or tension headaches?
Yes. Many headaches are “cervicogenic,” meaning they stem from issues in the neck. Our manual therapy techniques reduce nerve irritation and release tight muscles in the cervical spine and shoulders. Patients often experience a significant reduction in the frequency and intensity of headaches after addressing these postural and muscular triggers.
Is physical therapy safe during pregnancy?
Absolutely. We use gentle, pregnancy-safe techniques to help ease lower back pain, reduce pelvic pressure, and improve mobility. Whether you are dealing with prenatal discomfort or looking for postpartum recovery, our care is customized to ensure the safety and comfort of both mother and baby.
Can physical therapy help with sciatica or nerve pain?
Yes. By using manual traction and specific joint mobilizations, we can relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve. This helps reduce sharp pain, numbness, and tingling. We also provide supportive exercises to stabilize the area and prevent future flare-ups.
Will physical therapy help with posture or desk-related pain?
Definitely. Long hours at a desk often lead to “tech neck” and spinal misalignments. We combine ergonomic education with strengthening exercises to correct these patterns, relieving pain and retraining your body for healthier, sustainable alignment.
Can children or teenagers receive treatment?
Yes. We treat pediatric and adolescent patients, particularly those dealing with posture concerns, “growing pains,” or sports-related injuries. Our techniques are gentle and age-appropriate to support healthy growth and development.
Do you offer specialized techniques for sports injuries?
Yes. We work with athletes of all levels to promote faster recovery, improve flexibility, and optimize biomechanics. We use advanced tools like Blood Flow Restriction Therapy (BFRT) to maintain muscle mass and strength while joints are healing.
Is physical therapy helpful after auto accidents or whiplash?
Yes. Following an accident, manual therapy is essential to ease stiffness and restore range of motion. We focus on gentle mobilization to support long-term healing and prevent chronic scar tissue from forming.
Can physical therapy support recovery after surgery?
In many cases, it is the most critical part of recovery. We specialize in post-surgical rehabilitation for joint replacements, ACL repairs, and spinal surgeries. We work closely with your surgeon’s protocols to ensure a safe and efficient return to daily activity.
What to Expect / Safety
Is physical therapy painful?
Our goal is to reduce pain, not cause it. Most patients find manual therapy and mobilization to be relieving. You may experience some mild soreness after a session—similar to the feeling after a good workout—but this typically fades quickly as your body adapts.
What is manual therapy, and what does it involve?
Manual therapy is a “hands-on” clinical approach. It involves skilled movements applied to your joints and soft tissues to improve tissue extensibility, increase range of motion, and reduce pain. It is much more precise than general massage or exercise.
Why does my back or neck sometimes "pop" during treatment?
During certain joint mobilizations, you might hear a small “pop.” This is simply a release of gas bubbles from the joint space—it is a normal, harmless occurrence and is not the sound of bones “cracking.”
Is it safe to get physical therapy if I have osteoporosis or arthritis?
Yes. Our Doctors of Physical Therapy are trained to modify techniques for patients with bone density issues or inflammatory conditions. We use gentle mobilizations and low-impact strengthening to support your joints without overstressing them.
How quickly will I feel relief?
Every body is different. Some patients feel immediate relief after their first manual session, while others see gradual improvement over several weeks. Your timeline depends on the nature of your injury and your consistency with your home exercise plan.

Do I need a referral to see a physical therapist?
In New York, you can often access physical therapy directly without a physician’s referral through “Direct Access.” However, some insurance plans still require a referral for reimbursement. We can guide you through these steps when you call to book.
What is your cancellation policy?
Because we provide strictly one-on-one care, your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you. We kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling so that we may offer that time to another patient.
What are my payment options?
We accept credit cards, debit cards, HSA/FSA accounts, and cash. If you do not have insurance, we offer flexible self-pay options to ensure you can still access the care you need.
Other Common Questions
Can I combine physical therapy with massage or custom orthotics?
Yes. Combining these services often produces superior results. Manual therapy addresses joint mechanics, medical massage addresses soft tissue, and custom orthotics provide the structural foundation for your recovery.
What should I do to maintain my progress between visits?
Your therapist will provide a “Personalized Home Exercise Program.” Following these simple stretches and strengthening routines at home is the best way to extend the benefits of your in-office treatment and speed up your recovery.
What happens if physical therapy doesn’t help my condition?
Your health is our priority. If your condition does not improve as expected, we will refer you to a trusted specialist within our medical network to ensure you get the right diagnosis and care.
